979 Category Manager ( Frozen) – Cephalopods (Octopus & Squid) New England

Seeking an experienced Category Manager to lead the procurement of octopus, squid, and select seafood. This is a unique opportunity for a seafood professional with international sourcing experience and strong vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage procurement of octopus, squid, and selected seafood, including sourcing, pricing, and inventory.

• Purchase a range of frozen seafood from Asia, ensuring quality, weights, sizes, in coordination with senior buyers.

• Establish budgets for specific items and monitor market trends for optimal pricing and availability.

• Source and maintain relationships with domestic and international vendors, negotiate terms, and approve payments.

• Coordinate shipments with Operations, Logistics, and Imports, resolving any issues to ensure timely delivery.

• Support the sales team with stock updates, pricing guidance, and market insights.

• Attend seafood trade shows and visit plants/suppliers to ensure product quality and compliance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, or related field preferred.

• Minimum 5 years of experience purchasing or selling seafood products.

• Strong network of domestic and international seafood industry contacts.

• In-depth understanding of product quality, technical specifications, sustainability, and legality.

• Supply Chain, Import/Export, and international trading experience.

• Excellent communication skills in English (advanced); Spanish and Mandarin preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), NAV/BC, and QlikView.
